I read an excellent digital piece today about successful digital pieces. Its called the Nimble Report and it was produced by Razorfish. The design is funky and fun, always a plus in my book, and they did a great job of reiterating how today's publisher needs to present content and recreate themselves in order to be successful. Way back when, CatStone put forth that the basis of our company was to create an Experience with digital content. That our content was to be premium, interactive and exciting. This is promoted as well in the Nimble Report, but they go even farther to describe how publishers themselves will need to be "nimble" and what they see that meaning.
"But libre, liberty, freedom. This is what content needs in order to survive. It must be free to go where and when people want it most. It must be free to be read and viewed on a wide range of portable and networked devices. It must be free to mix and mingle with services, social networks, apps and content from other sources. In a highly connected world, content that is trapped in a silo is basically invisible. And invisible content may as well not exist."
So well put. And very exciting to me as I love to mix and mingle things. Always have. Give me ice cream with lots of stuff in it!
And to try and condense a bit of the experience idea: "Nimble content is content freed of traditional media constraints, but crafted in such a way that it still delights, informs, educates and entertains."
I heartily recommend reading more on this if you are considering digital publications. And know that CatStone is prepared to help you make your content as nimble and creative as possible. The Nimble Report
